Turn the Rule Table Into a Score Map
Write down each step that adds points and each rule that subtracts them. Contain caps, multipliers, round weighting, and any category that counts only once.
Work from the latest EI777 event rules, not a table from a similar earlier event. Small scoring updates can alter the best priority.
- Add caps and multipliers.
- Log penalty triggers.
- Note round weighting.
- List base point totals.
Follow Tie-Breaks in Order
Equal totals might be separated by head-to-head outcome, completion time, secondary score, highest round, or another published measure. The first criterion that resolves the tie often decides rank.
Do not jump directly to the final tie-break. Match each line in the published order and note down the final table that shows the applied outcome.
- Find out if time is measured.
- Note down the resolved rank.
- Find the first tie-break.
- Match criteria in sequence.
Multipliers, Caps and Rounding
A multiplier might apply prior to or after a category cap, and decimal totals might be rounded at a specific stage. The order can update the listed total.
Go through the published example if one is provided. Calculate base points, apply the multiplier in the published place, enforce the cap, then work from the event's rounding rule.
When reporting a difference, display each line of that calculation. A final number without the intermediate stages is harder to match with the EI777 scoring system.
- Display intermediate totals.
- Review the order of operations.
- Apply category caps correctly.
- Work from the published rounding rule.
Review Live Scores as Provisional
A live total might exclude a pending round, later bonus, or penalty review. The ranking can move even when your own listed number has not changed.
Check standings at natural breaks and look at the category item. Constant refreshing gives little practical data during active play.
- Watch for pending categories.
- Check between rounds.
- Treat live rank as provisional.
- Retain important score updates.
Review a Final Score Mismatch
Wait until each round is settled and the event is marked final. Match base points, multipliers, penalties, and tie-breaks as separate categories.
If one line still differs, send EI777 help desk the event ID, final page, disputed category, rule total, and expected calculation. A focused document is easier to confirm.
- Recalculate one category at a time.
- Contain the matching rule line.
- Document only the disputed total.
- Verify final event state.
